Custom Gear Manufacturing from Drawing to Serial Production
Custom Gear Manufacturing from Technical Drawings
Cimak Gear manufactures custom gears, shafts and power transmission components from technical drawings and defined project requirements. The manufacturing route is planned around engineering review, material and process selection, gear cutting, heat treatment, finishing and inspection. Requirements can be evaluated from one-off parts and prototypes through low-volume and repeat serial production.
Manufacturing Built Around Technical Requirements
The right manufacturing route for a custom gear is not determined by gear type alone. Operating load, speed, material, heat treatment, tooth geometry, interface details, tolerances and quantity all affect the process plan. Cimak Gear reviews the available technical data before production to define an appropriate manufacturing approach.
Technical Drawing or CAD Data
A manufacturing request can be evaluated from a 2D technical drawing, 3D CAD model or sufficient technical data. Dimensions, gear geometry, material, heat treatment, tolerances and other critical requirements are reviewed before production.
Application and Operating Conditions
For new designs or projects requiring technical evaluation, torque, speed, load characteristics, operating environment, mating components and duty conditions can influence manufacturing decisions. Where required, Cimak Gear's engineering team evaluates these inputs from design and manufacturability perspectives.
Physical Sample When No Drawing Exists
An existing gear or power transmission component can also be evaluated when technical drawings are unavailable. In this case, measurement, analysis and modelling are handled through the reverse-engineering process to create the technical basis required for reproduction.
Custom Gear Manufacturing Process
Not every project follows the same manufacturing route. The process combination is selected according to component geometry, material, heat-treatment requirements, accuracy requirements and production quantity.
1. Technical Review & Manufacturability
Technical drawings, CAD data or project requirements are reviewed before manufacturing. Critical dimensions, gear geometry, material, heat treatment and manufacturing methods are evaluated, and missing or unclear information is clarified before production begins.
2. Material & Process Planning
Material selection is evaluated according to load, operating conditions, required core and surface properties and heat-treatment requirements. Cimak Gear works with engineering steels including 16MnCr5, 20MnCr5, 18CrNiMo7-6 and 42CrMo4.
3. Machining & Pre-Processing
Depending on component geometry, CNC turning, CNC milling and the required pre-machining operations are applied. Bores, hubs, grooves, shafts and interface geometries are prepared according to the manufacturing plan.
4. Gear Cutting & Tooth Generation
Depending on gear geometry and technical requirements, hobbing, gear shaping, broaching and other appropriate tooth-generation methods can be used. Process selection is based on component geometry, tooth form and project requirements.
5. Heat Treatment
Where required, carburising, nitriding, hardening and other suitable heat-treatment methods can be carried out using Cimak Gear's in-house heat-treatment capability. The heat-treatment route is selected according to material and required technical properties.
6. Finishing Operations
Grinding, honing and shaving can be applied where required by the project. EDM and laser processing capabilities can also be incorporated into the manufacturing route for suitable geometries and production requirements.
7. Measurement & Quality Control
After manufacturing, components are inspected against the technical drawing and project requirements. CMM and relevant measuring equipment are used within the quality-control process, with the inspection scope defined according to the component's technical requirements.
8. Packing & Shipment
After inspection, components are prepared for shipment and dispatched according to the project plan. Cimak Gear works with customers in Türkiye and international customers across more than 10 countries.

Prototype, Low-Volume and Serial Production
A first-off component, a low-volume replacement requirement and a repeat serial order require different production planning. Cimak Gear can evaluate project requirements from one-off parts and prototypes through low-volume and repeat serial production.
Power Transmission Manufacturing Beyond Individual Gears
Cimak Gear's manufacturing capability is not limited to individual gears. Depending on project requirements, gear shafts, spline shafts, pinions, ring gears, sun gears, planetary gears and other transmission or power transmission components can also be manufactured.
OEM, Aftermarket and Industrial Projects
The manufacturing infrastructure can support OEM, aftermarket and custom requirements across automotive, construction machinery, agricultural machinery, defence and other industrial applications. Each project is evaluated on its technical requirements.

Explore Manufacturing from a Sample
Can Cimak Gear manufacture custom gears from technical drawings?
Yes. Cimak Gear can review technical drawings and project requirements for manufacturability, material, process, heat treatment and inspection before manufacturing custom gears and power transmission components.
Can a gear be manufactured without a technical drawing?
Yes. When a physical sample is available, the component can be measured, analysed and modelled through reverse engineering for reproduction.
Can Cimak Gear support prototypes or low-volume production?
Yes. One-off parts, prototypes, low-volume requirements and repeat serial production can be evaluated on a project basis.
Is heat treatment available in-house?
Yes. Suitable heat-treatment processes required by the project can be carried out using Cimak Gear's own heat-treatment capability.
Which materials can Cimak Gear work with?
Material selection depends on project requirements. 16MnCr5, 20MnCr5, 18CrNiMo7-6 and 42CrMo4 are examples of engineering steels Cimak Gear can work with.
