Custom Gear Design & Engineering
From Operating Requirements to a Manufacturable Gear Design
Cimak Gear can support new gear and power transmission projects from operating conditions and technical requirements through design and engineering. Load, speed, geometry, material, heat treatment and manufacturing methods are evaluated together to develop a manufacturable technical solution.
What Information Helps Start a Gear Design?
Torque and speed, load characteristics, operating environment, available space and interface dimensions, mating components, target duty conditions, quantities and any existing technical documentation can support design evaluation.
1. Define Technical Requirements
Operating conditions and functional requirements are established, including load, speed, installation envelope, interfaces and duty scenario.
2. Gear Geometry & Engineering Calculations
Gear geometry, ratios and core engineering parameters are evaluated for the application. KISSsoft and relevant engineering tools can support calculation and technical review.
3. CAD Modelling
SolidWorks / AutoCAD / Inventor
The approved design approach is modelled in CAD and the geometric and technical data required for manufacturing and inspection are prepared.
4. Material & Heat-Treatment Approach
Material and heat treatment are evaluated according to load, operating conditions, required surface/core properties and manufacturing requirements.
5. Manufacturability & Process Planning
The design is reviewed not only for theoretical function but also against Cimak Gear's manufacturing, heat-treatment and inspection capabilities. Required CNC, gear-cutting, heat-treatment and finishing steps are translated into a production route.
6. Prototype & Validation
Where required, a first-off component or prototype can be manufactured. Manufacturing and inspection results can be used to evaluate technical revisions before repeat production.
Engineering Tools
SolidWorks, AutoCAD, KISSsoft and Inventor are among the tools used for design, modelling and technical evaluation.
Design and Manufacturing in One Technical Flow
Cimak Gear's design work is connected to production. Design decisions are evaluated together with available manufacturing, heat-treatment and inspection capabilities to create a practical manufacturing route.
